HOME THERAPIES OVERVIEW

The Davis Center now offers many of our sound-based therapies as home programs..
This provides the potential of helping more people all around the world. The
Diagnostic Evaluation for Therapy Protocol (DETP®)
still must be administered before
embarking on a sound-based therapy protocol. This can be obtained either at our
location in Succasunna, NJ or by arranging for Ms. Davis to come to your area to
administer her test battery. (For outreach opportunity information click here.)

Once the therapy protocol is determined, the client can choose to do their listening at
our center or in the comfort of their own home. Each therapy has its own initial
consultation. For our Root System therapies known as Auditory Integration Training,
there are two home programs available. To be considered for a home program and to
be put on the waiting list for the equipment, the client must return the required
paperwork and schedule the initial assessment. This assessment can be by phone if
the Hearing Sensitivity Test was administered within 9 months from the Diagnostic
Evaluation for Therapy Protocol
. A young child will not need to be present for the
phone call if the testing is current. Once the assessment is finalized, the client's name
is put on the 'next available unit' list and/or will be scheduled for a time appropriate
for your scheduling needs. The sooner the required paperwork is in and the
consultation held, the sooner the client can begin their program.

The same applies for our Trunk of the Tree therapies known as Listening Training
Programs.
There is only one approved home program at this level currently. To be
considered for a home program and to be put on the waiting list for the equipment,
the client must return the required paperwork and schedule the initial assessment.
This assessment can be by phone if the Sound Processing Test was administered
within one year from the Diagnostic Evaluation for Therapy Protocol. If not
administered at The Davis Center, the parent will be asked to have the child perform
a few tasks and report on the child's responses. Additionally, other information will be
obtained so that appropriate programming can be determined for the child. Once the
assessment is finalized, the client's name is put on the 'next available unit' list and/or
will be scheduled for a time appropriate for your scheduling needs. The sooner the
required paperwork is in and the consultation held, the sooner the client can begin
their program.

The Seed of the Tree currently has one program which is always administered at
home
. There are required questionnaires that must be returned. A consultation is
scheduled to validate the responses. The paperwork is then sent to the program
developer and a 2 CD set is made for the client. Once The Davis Center receives the
CD's, they are sent to the client who will follow the listening program.

The Leaves and Branches of The Tree therapies can all be done as home programs
but we only selectively choose a few clients for these therapies and refer clients to
other centers that administer the programs instead.

The Head circumference of The Tree therapy must be tested at The Davis Center or
at an Outreach Testing Facility but the listening therapy itself is done at home.
Typically the tones are retested and administered after 3 months. The voice analysis
can be done over the phone but the client must always be tested in the presence of a
BARA, and all subsequent listening is done at home. The BioAcoustics™ packet of
forms must be returned prior to the tone trials or brought to the center on the day of
testing.

In general, our home programs are easy to administer. Our staff is available for
support during business hours with limited support on the weekends. Clients report
similar benefits to our in house programs. However, some parents prefer for our
therapists to administer the therapies or some clients want to receive the therapy
offered only in house versus the ones offered at home. The choice is theirs.

The client is responsible for any breakage of the equipment and insurance is
mandated for shipping problems. Clients can avoid shipping/handling fees by picking
up the equipment at our center. If a unit is shipped to the client, the client is
responsible for shipping/handling fees.

Our home programs have become very popular! There are typically waiting lists for
these programs so the earlier one has the requirements in, the earlier the program
can be administered.
