THE TOMATIS METHOD (Tomatis®)
WHO Is It For? Tomatis® is for anyone interested in improving their balance, coordination, fine and gross motor skills, sensory integration, reading, writing, spelling, communication, attention, memory, organization, body energy, self-confidence and self-awareness. The program is appropriate for people of all ages.
WHAT Is It? Developed by the French physician Alfred Tomatis, Tomatis® is based upon the principle ‘the voice produces what the ear hears’. The program focuses on the relationship between the voice, the ear, and the brain.
WHEN Is It Used? Tomatis® is recommended when the need is demonstrated by the Diagnostic Evaluation for Therapy Protocol (DETP®).
WHY Might I Use It? Tomatis® is recommended when there is a need to stimulate overall development or a desire to enhance personal growth. Areas in which Tomatis® has demonstrated improvement include: communication, attention, memory, organization, sound sensitivities, auditory and perceptual skills, motor function, language skills, learning and comprehension, sensory integration, coordination, musical expression and rhythm, socialization, and self-confidence.
