THE DAVIS CENTER'S DISTANCE PROGRAM
For those limited by travel time or distance, The Davis
Center has created its Distance Program. Its format is based on
The Davis Center's philosophy,
as represented by the Center's “tree” analogy (Davis Center Philosophy).
However, it utilizes only those therapies available in a home format.
This program; therefore, is used as an introduction or basic program.
To achieve the full effect of the sound based therapy protocol, the
overall prescribed sequence must be followed as suggested within the tree
analogy.
The Distance Program offered by The Davis Center
consists of following:
The Listening Program™, followed by the Fast ForWord™ Series.
The Listening Program™, based on the Tomatis Method, uses special headphones
and CDs. The Fast ForWord™ Series, an interactive, computer-based program,
includes programs addressing needs in areas ranging from language to reading.
Both of these programs can be done at home.
Participation in the Distance Program requires the client undergo initial
testing, either at our facility, or at one of their choice. Test results
must be provided prior to starting the program. (If a Central Auditory
Processing Evaluation has been performed, a copy should be submitted.)
Each Distance Program client is monitored closely, via weekly fax or email
reports and programs are changed as needed. Additionally, phone consultations,
an important part of the process, are scheduled periodically.
THE LISTENING PROGRAM™ (TLP)
TLP is a neurodevelopmental auditory training program for use in the home,
school, or clinic. Developed in collaboration with the National Academy of
Child Development and Advanced Brain Technologies, TLP is designed for
children and adults with learning and attention difficulties, auditory
processing problems, sound sensitivities, receptive and expressive language
problems, perceptual difficulties, sensory integration challenges, or
developmental delays. TLP is also valuable for improving communication
skills, musical abilities, and learning potential.
The Listening Program™ utilizes clinically-proven sound stimulation
techniques originally developed by Dr. Alfred Tomatis. Consisting of 8 CDs
and Guidebook, The Listening Program™ is administered by an authorized and
licensed therapeutic or education program supervisor.
When administered under the supervision of The Davis
Center with weekly monitoring, The Listening Program™ Lays the
groundwork for the appropriate level of the Fast ForWord™ Series.
